Wild Card: Internet Communication Unraveling the Mysteries of Politics

The Internet has been a an unbelievably beneficial resource for communication and information/research. The power of the Internet has been so efficient that knowledge has never been so readily available ever in human history, and now the Internet is being used in a clever way to unravel the confusion that swarms politics the platforms behind them. Politics has never been an easy matter to decipher, and there was always difficulty getting to the facts of certain political matters. Because the bias that surrounds campaigns and differing parties, it is a challenge to get to the facts on certain matters. It is the considered the duty of the citizens to educate themselves and vote on matters, but most find it hard to even understand what each side stands for.

Captain America himself has stepped in the alleviate the struggle. By using the Internet to his advantage, actor Chris Evans has started a civic project to provide a "one stop source" for people to gain unbiased political information. The project is still underway, but Evans has already put the plan into motion. How the cite is intended to work is that representation from both parties will create 1 minute videos on a variety of political issues. Several politicians will hit the highlights of these matters and what their view point is; then they can also (and are encouraged to) provide links so that viewers can go more in depth and research the matter themselves.

The goal is to hear from a primary source the cliff notes version of an issue put in layman's terms so that people can decide for themselves what they believe and who they will support. Evans expressed that he was frustrated how it was hard to find the truth of matters between on the obvious bias and unrearched opinions. He wants the people to be informed, and he set out to have a website where people can find all the reliable information they need in one place. 

Though Evans is the face behind this project, he made it clear this is an open platform. He made the statement that this is not about his views, but about the views of the people. He wants the voice of the people to be heard and represented on this platform.

"This is not about my political opinion, this is about yours. This is the chance for you to talk about political issues that matter to you." 

Transparency appears to be the stressed theme with this project; the purpose is not to make people view a certain way (meaning push one party over another), but instead, give people the facts so they can decide for themselves based on unbiased information. By having both parties equally represented, this does not leave room for one party to appear in better favor than another.

It was not long into the project that it started gaining publicity on social media. Christ Evans tweeted on his Twitter how the "cat's outta the bag."

His initiative set well with the politician involved. They felt that his efforts helped to "demystify politics," and that was something they could appreciate and stand behind. Evans is active on his Twitter and continues to update about the progress his project is making. 

It is not only on social media that has been following Evans, but various news cites have been on the case as well. NowThisPolitics featured the story on their Instagram (which is where I first came across it). The video he posted for the providing information to the politicians was also released. He created an informational video explaining what his website will be about, and what his expectations for the politicians were. That video was released, and that helped to keep the authenticity and transparency of what Evans is trying to accomplish. 

Chris Evans is using the interconnectedness of the Internet, and the access to spread knowledge. He is capitalizing on the ready communications, and he is using it to make a stand for a cause. It is becase of how far technology has come that he is able to do this.
